« on: December 12, 2009, 03:45:55 pm »
This would go gown well after Litha ritual... or on a hot summer day by the pool  :hehehe:

Things You'll Need:

Large Pitcher
Red Wine
Vodka
Triple Sec
Ice
Fresh Lemon Juice
Sugar
Fruits you can use:
Thinly sliced Oranges, Lemon, Limes, green and red apples, grapes, berries, pears or peaches.
Strawberries
Raspberries
Soda Water

In large pitcher add 4 tbsp of LemonJuice and 1/4cup white sugar
Cut Orange, lemon, lime into thin wheel slices add to pitcher
Then cut Strawberries vertically in half (or whatever way you want) and add raspberries
Next add 180ml of Vodka and 80ml of Triple Sec
Mix
Fill Pitcher with your choice of RedWine (Merlot)
Mix thoroughly

To serve:
Add Ice to Glass and fill with Sangria
Optional: Fill glass 3/4 full with Sangria top with Soda Water
Garnish with fruit wheel and a fresh Strawberry

Tips & Warnings:
Sangria is best if made the night before, or at least a few hours in advance. This allows all the fruit and flavors to blend.
Never Drink and Drive
And ALWAYS drink in Moderation

Sounds yummy, I'd love to give that a try, but even small amounts of red wine give me a headache *sigh*

White wine?  I've seen a white wine sangria recipe too just now, I'll see if I can find it and I'll post that one too.

I've seen recipe's with red wine and brandy too...

Brandy & Red Wine recipe:

Things You'll Need:

Large punch bowl
2 bottles of red wine
½ cup brandy (add more to taste)
½ cup orange-flavoured liqueur, like Grand Marnier or triple sec
4 tbsp. freshly squeezed lime juice
4 tbsp. freshly squeezed orange juice
½ cup granulated sugar
1 orange
1 lemon
2 apples
1 cup blackberries
2 cinnamon sticks
Carbonated water

Make the simple syrup. Combine ½ cup white sugar and ½ cup water in a small pan or pot. Stir the mixture on medium heat until they combine to make a light syrup. You may want to make a little extra in case you like your sangria on the sweet side.

Prepare the fruit. First, wash the fruit in cool water. Second, thinly slice the orange and lemon. Third, core and slice the apples.

Combine the ingredients.
In the large punch bowl, add the wine, brandy, orange-flavored liqueur, lime juice, orangejuice, simple syrup, fruit, and cinnamon sticks.

Don't add any carbonated water yet. You may want to adjust the recipe to your taste by adding more brandy, triple sec or simple syrup. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap.

Refrigerate the sangria. It's recommended to refrigerate your sangria for 24 hours or at least overnight.
The longer you let your sangria chill, the better the flavors will marinate and taste.

Add carbonated water.  Add 1 cup at a time until it reaches your preferred taste. Do not add the soda until your sangria is ready to serve.

Serve your sangria and enjoy!

THIS is SURE to make one tipsy tart!!

White wine Sangria

Things You'll Need:

2 cups white wine
1 oz. Brandy
2 and 1/2 oz. Triple Sec
1 and 1/2 oz white rum
4 oz. Orange juice
Sprite
apple and orange slices
ice

Take a half gallon pitcher and fill with ice.
Pour all ingredients, except the soda, over the ice.
Cut the apple into small diced pieces and the orange into small wedges, leaving the peel on. Add to the pitcher.
To serve you can either pour about 1/2 cup sprite into the pitcher or fill each glass and top individually with a splash of soda.

Peach Sangria

Things You'll Need:

750 ml Bottle dry white wine
3/4 Cup peach flavored vodka
6 tbsps. thawed frozen lemonade concentrate
1/4 Cup white sugar
3/4 Cup seedless red grapes, halved
3/4 Cup seedless green grapes, halved
1 Pound pitted and sliced white peaches
1/2 Cup brandy
Mint leaves

**Maybe substitute the wine with a bottle of peach sparkling wine**

In a large pitcher or punch bowl combine the white wine, flavored vodka, lemon concentrate and sugar.

Stir the mixture until the sugar is completely dissolved.

Add the sliced peaches and the red and green grapes.

Refrigerate the sangria until it has chilled. Usually it will be chilled after a couple of hours. To fully get the blend of flavors refrigerate the Sangria overnight.

Serve over ice using a slotted spoon in order to put some of the peaches and grapes in the drink.
