Schools and religion
« on: September 01, 2009, 05:34:37 pm »
JJ has finally mastered the whole toilet thing  so she is now ready for pre-school. I'll be going to the pre-school (the only one in the village) to go and see about her starting school this week. What worries me is that we live in a heavily Christian community and I suspect that the pre-school is Christian. What I would like to know is; what are the policies regarding religion and the education system?

I've decided to go tomorrow morning to the school, and I'll let you guys know what happens. I've also had a talk with JJ already about my beliefs and those of the other 'mommies and daddies'.

Although compulsory religious services are forbidden in school, they still happen. I had to sit through about two hours worth of them every single week - and I'm talking Cape Town suburbs here, so I can only imagine it would be worse in Putsonderwater or there about.
