Last night I had like an epiphany… lol, maybe it’s old news to some of you or maybe I made way too much assumptions of way too little information. Anyway, let me run my thoughts by you…
The following is from my Judika Illes Encyclopedia of Witchcraft book p.357 & 358:
Bram Stoker’s Dracula has very little to do with the original European vampire. In the Balkans, Eastern and Central Europe the word vampire / vampyre / upir can indicate a term for a witch, vampire or a werewolf.
In Slavic areas, vampires were understood as the living corpses of witches / sorcerers / magical practitioners who for some or other reason rise from the grave. At their most neutral they are harmful simply because they do not obey natural law and at their worst they rise with the deliberate intention to cause harm.
Other interpretations suggests that the vampire is not dead but a living person that is able to send out and recall his / her shadow soul… and this soul is interpreted as the vampire.
Little or no notion of blood sucking exists in the original perceptions of vampires. Because the vampire in a state between life and death, they require life energy and of coarse this is best absorbed from living people. And this energy is more likely absorbed via sexual energy then the sucking of someone’s blood.
“the vampire is not dead but a living person that is able to send out and recall his / her shadow soul… and this soul is interpreted as the vampire”
- Can this maybe be people that did some form of astral traveling / projection?
“And this energy is more likely absorbed via sexual energy then the sucking of someone’s blood.”
- Sounds to me a bit like a succubus / incubus / lamia / strix / strigae, they’re all creatures that lust after sex or sexual energy.
- All these creatures resemble mythic accounts of Lilith. Diana, was said to be the leader of the strigae… maybe it was all info meant to defame them?
Could it be that the vampire is just another word for a succubus or incubus?
Or it could also have been that the vampire in all those gruesome scary bedtime stories was actually what we know today as a psy vampire?
-
I think its quite likely and as with any story, the more it gets told from person to person the more embelished it became and in the end the vampires actually sucked blood as opposed to just energy.
-
There's a difference between normal vampires and psi vampires, normal vampires feed of blood, psi vampires feed of energy from other human beings while a conduit absorbs energy mostly from their surroundings.
Psi Vampires are normal human beings with one or more defective or dysfunctional chakra (relative to normal human beings), which means the chakra can't produce enough of its own energy causing an imbalance in that person’s life force. It's a condition psi vampires are born with and in order for the affected person to function properly, that person needs energy from another source. Normal human beings may contract vampirism during their life time through drawn out stressful events, prolonged association with vampirism or from a detrimental psychic attack.
Not getting enough energy can lead to ailments which includes but is not exclusive to emotional, neurological, mental and physical instability. Not only psi vampires feed of energy, normal human beings does it as well in times of illness and injury as a way of survival, what separates normal people from psi vampires is the fact that psi vampires will continue feeding of energy even when in perfect health and will suffer from the above mentioned ailments when not getting a stable supply of energy. Conduits on the other hand will absorb energy from their surroundings and instead of feeding on it; they will simply keep it until another psi vampire drains it (acting as a donor) or until the conduit decides to ground it. If they fail to get rid of the absorbed energy, they will experience similar symptoms to that of a hungry psi vampire whereas a psi vampire will experience these symptoms when operating in an energy deficiency.
For people saying they’re getting a headache when not feeding of other people’s energy might be imagining it, furthering the illusion that they are in fact a psi vampire, real symptoms are intense and crippling. The main difference between an individual with an actual vampiric condition and a normal person is the fact that regardless of how much work is done to fix the problematic area (referring to the aura); a true vampire will not be able to fix it permanently (only temporary relief is possible).
Also note that there’s a big difference between psi vampire and psychic vampires, psi is the shortened form of psionic, some psionic vampires do have psychic abilities, but psionic mostly refers to the natural ability to manipulate and sense energy, lots of psionic vampires do so on a subconscious level on a daily basis and thus need the extra energy.
Psi vampires have the ability to directly connect to another person through a direct link, this can be used for feeding (which is dangerous for several reasons), and it can be used for healing or sharing information directly. Besides being able to connect to another person, other abilities include being generally psychic, ability to manipulate energy, the ability to heal others and oneself, the ability to slow the aging process in rare cases, proficiency at astral projection, high sensitivity to surroundings, highly empathetic and the ability to physically see auras.
Vampires are usually night people on a biochemical level. They have inverted circadian rhythms, with body cycles such as temperature peaks, menstrual onset, and the production of sleep hormones in the brain occurring at the opposite time of day from most people. They have difficulty adjusting to daytime schedules and frequently work at night. They tend to be photosensitive, avoiding sunlight, sun burning easily, and having excellent night vision. Their vitality ranges widely, and they can be vigorous and active one day, depressed and languorous the next.
Many people find that they feel "creepy" or "weird" around a vampire. This is usually due to the effects of one's own life force being drawn towards the vampire's vortex. Most people feel uncomfortable and distracted when their energy is pulled away from themselves. In addition to this, a common result of such an energy drain is for the aura to pull in tightly towards the body, and this causes a prickling sensation on the skin.
Just my 2c
-
Interesting, I've always thought people claiming to be vampires are just people that read way too much in Anne Rice books.
"Vampires" that drink actual blood, from their friends / bf / gf... really kooky too.

Very interesting! But I suppose that not every second person has a condition like this.
Actually right now on History Channel is a story about a Vampire Princess. Will give some feedback... it sounds really REALLY interesting!!!

You might want to go to http://www.vampires.nu/ if you're looking for a WOTR type community for vampires with 3000+ active members.
Have a facebook group (very inactive as usual) for Vampires / Sanguinarians as well: http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=6312875167&ref=ts
-
Thanks I'll check it out! I love anything that has to do with vampires. Weird how something that's actually supposed to be a little disgusting can be so alluring.
-
The program was about Eleonore von Schwarzenberg

Lol, who can read German (?? is it??) It’s about the woman’s life…

vampires are very different from what most think us to be. trust me its really no fun being one
-
And it is no fun living with one either... but if I were to tell hubby he was a psychic vampire he would laugh at me and call me insane... he has NO idea at all!!! The only psi ability he has is he knows when someone is pregnant and what sex the baby will be, and he has never been wrong. He also knows when he is being followed...
Otherwise, he is totally unaware of what he is or what he does and, as it is on a deep subconcious level, can do nothing about it. I just keep myself well shielded, which annoys him NO end as this makes him miserable, angry, irritable etc... He cannot feed off of me, most times... my shield occasionally slips when he gets too much, he is pretty powerful at times, and then I have to reinforce it... But it is very hard at times... living with one 24/7 makes it harder. He even feeds off his Mum, but she is totally unaware too so she allows it, unconsciously. She is, literally, his willing slave. He demands, she gives in to his every whim. I have dug my heels in and have been fighting him the last few years... took ME a long time to realise, much to his surprise and, of course, anger!!!
The Desiderata says, "Go placidly amongst the noise and haste" and this is the impression he gets now and is always screaming at me because I just sit there calmly and placidly instead of reacting in any way or caving in to his demands.
He cant feed off neutral energy :D
-
ok i wasnt talking about psi but that is difficult to live with a psi.
i was talking a about sanguinarians with blood lust. blood lust is terrible when you fight it, it makes you weak for weeks on end unless you find a alternative to blood if you are one who does not want to drink the life force of another
-
Maybe, though, I do think very little people are born with the actual conditions Re@PeR talked of.
Being a vampire is popular and romantic, dare I say, under the Goth scene.
I've known a few "vampire" Goths... they were my friends, I loved them, indulged them in their "habits" and beliefs... but call me the party pooper, what ever I don't care... they lived in one big fantasy world.
I also love the idea of vampires, it is beautiful, romantic and erotic and just weird enough so I totally love it, but if anyone comes to me saying "I'm a vampire / vampyr"... I'll go :| "Ja that's beautiful" but actually think "yeah, right."
-
oooh, eish... I can well imagine.
You know, vampyrism has always fascinated me. I have, I think, all the 'modern' vamp movies. The blade trilogy, the underworld movies, Van Helsing, vampyres, a few version of Dracula... Some are just a load of BS, but some are pretty much well informative... Of Course, Count Drac has been exaggerated many times. I just need to get "Conversations With A Vampire" again. Have met a couple, mainly at Goth functions... where you battle to find REAL Goths amongst the Psuedo Goths, but if you look closely enough, you can tell :) My first Goth function a real Goth gave me the pointers... lol. Mainly Vamps hang out at the Goth clubs... makes sense. We have the "electric Church" here, the local Goth Circle.
I have had no close dealings with sanguinarians though.
It must be pretty tough :(
-
Very few people are born with it and most of them keep it hidden. But they DO exist. The real ones dont go around boasting about it though, as a rule!!!
actually, in recent months I have had this craving for raw meat.............. I actually sneak a few bites before I cook it............. hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
Oh shait, I'm about to become very unpopular... people that drink actual blood claiming that they uncontrollably crave it... takes Bram Stoker and any vampire tale too far.
-
Until you actually had to meet face to face with one ofcourse you would say they just take the bramstoker thing too far, believe me i have witnessed some weird things in my life, them real vamps are always arround
-
Maybe, I can't say that it all total bs. My honest opinion is that if it's a human vampire they'll either be really kooky or someone that suffers from a real condition called Renfields Syndrome. But the actual cases where people suffer from real medical anomalies are far less.
-
you have much to learn. i am now done with this topic
-
you have much to learn.
That may well be the case... but I stand by my opinion, plain and simply put... there is no such thing as a human "vampire." I'm not talking about psy, that I truly believe exists... blood drinking, no.
I see it as a fetish, like some people like pain or... feet, other people like blood.
-
keep to your opinion its yours
just try going through blood lust. its hell.
goodnight ladys
-
Human beings have different needs, some lack iron in their diet, others lack vitamin D, other lack life force because of the energy imbalance in their aura, vampires are human beings requiring life force from external sources, sanguinarians get their fix through blood while psi vampires are slightly more evolved and can get the same life force through energy. If you don't believe the story about life force being transferable through blood, read up on the research where human characteristics have shown to transfer with blood transfusions (don't have the link in my scratchpad anymore, will do a search for it later on), in other words, blood has the same life force energy has, only sanguinarians haven't learned how (or are unable) to feed of energy and still do it the old fashioned way, via blood.
Most sanguinarians I've spoken to only drink a small amount of blood, usually the size of a shot glass and get it from donors (most likely not a vampire themselves as the vampire's blood will probably be lacking the same life force the user is looking for), the ones doing it for show off have
1: Never touched a drop of blood in their life and think they are hardcore for claiming to have drank blood
2: Drink a large glass of blood and dilute it with flavourants or simply use fake blood to show off
Saying that sanguinarians are less of a vampire than a psi vampire is discrimination, but each to its own.
-

I can think of other ways to feed off someones energy...

Oops! Didn't mean to imply that.

Today I've been busy reading about vampires, and I'm not really any wiser on the subject.
Well I did find that these were my friends... and why I guess I believe what I believe about vampirism.
http://vampires.monstrous.com/vampyres.htm
I have a few questions...
"Awakening" like they describe here - http://vampires.monstrous.com/awakening_vampire.htm
... now to my mind, anyone that's remotely interested in vampirism can cultivate or manifest these symptoms in order to say that they are becoming vampires... like mind over matter almost.
Plus, what teenager does not feel this to some degree?
"Many experience acute feelings of isolation and alienation during this process, as their changing nature distances them increasingly from their "normal" family and friends."
"Turning" - http://vampires.monstrous.com/turning_vampire.htm ... role-playing taken too far?
Honestly, I do not mean to sound disrespectful to many of some of your beliefs, I'd just like to learn more.
I'll be spending my time on http://www.sanguinarius.org/ Looks like an informative site.
-
just because there r fanatics n frauds doesnt mean we dnt exist. Awakening is real bt it varies in each person there r no set symptoms. There r two o us on d syt n i cn say u cn ask us anything if u keep a open mynd. As i said b4 its no fun being this n anyone who says otherwise is either false or psychopathic.
-
I knew about you JabonDragon, I didn't realize there was another here.
-
I must say this subject scares me,freaks me out and intrigues me all at the same time. I find it interessting. I have experienced some of the symptoms. I mean I would prefer to sleep in the day and stay awake all night, but wouldn't some of you too?
-
the thing with symptoms like that is that a lot of them apply to a lot of people, but that doesn't mean they're vampires, it just means they might be a bit different.
-
Hmmm I can understand that. Though, I have more or less all the “symptoms” to some extent, I can tell you I do not crave blood. So I can guess that these “symptoms” can be traits of anyone not just necessarily vampires.
But can I ask another thing? Now I’ve been with some very destructive people… my “vampire friends” was so into the freak show part of anything different you can find out there it gets disturbing at times. Okay, I know that's not what you're into but hear me out?
Isn’t being a vampire destructive in a way? I know you do not injure yourself but taking blood from someone else is harmful… okay so they volunteer to give some of their blood, but isn’t it then aiding in their self destructive peculiarities by taking blood for your own pleasure. … therefore aiding and exploiting in each others destructive natures?
Like a drug dealer selling heroin to an addict and obviously benefiting from their clients destructiveness.
I hope I make sense, again, I do not mean for this to sound detached. It was just a weird cycle of self destructiveness I picked up on.
-
Not getting your fix of life force will send you into an uncontrollable spiral of depression which leads to self destructive behavior, extreme mood swings and might lead to worse problems. (don't want to generalise here since the symptoms differ from person to person)
Sanguinarians usually don't take blood from each other, unless it's to temporarily soothe a craving, they need blood from normal people (not affected by this condition) who'll supply in their need of life force which the sanguinarian blood is usually lacking.
It's almost like a drug addiction, only difference is, with drugs, you have a choice, with vampirism you are either born that way or contract it somewhere in your life due to various factors, once you're in, there's no turning back.
-
Why don’t vampires reach out for help then? It really does sound like a small hell vampires live?
I mean if there’s medication to drown out “voices” (of spirits,) and severe clinical depression there must be something that can help with blood cravings? Or at least most of the worst side effects if it?
-
Medication can only relieve the symptoms for a while (not the craving itself) just like it is with any medication, unless you want to turn into a zombie drug addict taking stronger and stronger meds the whole time for the rest of life doing more harm to your body than good, even then the meds won't be able to fix anything besides costing you a lot of money and leaving you in a miserable drugged state.
-
Hmmm.....I have one word: Aids.. How can you protect yourself when consuming anothers blood?? I know that may seem like an ignorant question, but all the same...

Ahhhh ok...was just wondering, cause you can never be too careful..
Learning something new every day..
-
the vampire codex is no good hun its got nothing to do with law abiding vamps. i have read it
-
On a different note…
I read that in Romany vampire lore, vampires are supposed to crave milk too. And if you’d want a peaceful co-existence with them, you can create an offering table for them where you provide food for them. These offerings can be, dairy milk, coconut milk and rice balls boiled in milk… lol, and apparently creatures of the night with a sweet tooth would like halvah too.
You know, if the poor vampire suffer from Anemia… or some iron deficiency… dairy products will lower his or her iron absorption… it was a conspiracy!!
So the offering table must rather consist of - sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, peas, green leafy vegetables, chicken or fish broth made of the meat and the bones… and to drink, lemon squeezed out in water (to help absorb iron) and the pudding can still be halvah, since it’s made of sesame seeds.
-
i certainly have never craved milk im infact allergic to it. .. ..
but once again thats lore and thats the same demon vampires that suck blood and live forever... just a myth and a abstraction of the truth.... in the same way that witches fly and turn people into frogs... we have to fight steriotyps too...
iv been handed a difficult bunch of cards im a vamp a witch and a lesbian lmao but you know what two of the three are not choice and there is nothing i or anyone else can do about them but i enjoy being a lesbian and a witch just hate the vamp part
-
I thought that it was just a mythic lore thing, many of the spells to repel vampires are directed at the vampires of folklore… and none of them has ever been real.
But I’ve been thinking a lot about what Re@PeR and you’ve said about vampires that crave blood because of some or other iron deficiency.
Wouldn’t eating foods that would nourish anemic sufferers, foods like
sesame seeds, sunflower seeds, almonds, peas, green leafy vegetables, chicken or fish broth made of the meat and the bones… and to drink, lemon squeezed out in water (to help absorb iron) and the pudding can still be halvah, since it’s made of sesame seeds.
At least just alleviate (although, probably not cure) the “side effects” of it?
-
http://www.apocalypse.org/~hilda/blackveil.html
The black veil....
-
Yes it helps a little bee my fave is beetroot or liquorice bt it just helps a litle, enuf to make us look ok bt nt nuf to kil the cravings
-
Okay, didn't think it would kill the cravings, it would help with the side effects of the cravings because you're putting back iron in your body.
-
it does help sometimes
-
Maybe someone asked this before...but does it have to be human blood? and I don't mean to be offensive in any way..
I mean one could for example go the a deli or specialist butcher and buy Blood Sausage...??? would that not be an option, as this is rich in iron as well, and is actually made from pigs blood??
-
what about haemophilia? my father has it, and my sister is a carrier. he needs regular infusions of other peoples blood, but it has been processed so its mostly plasma and haemosolvate (no red blood cells).
about what reaper said in his first big post... i think i might be psionic, whether or not i'm a psi/psych vamp is another story. some people who have good perception get a weird, dark, vibe from me, but animals are drawn to me so i can't be all bad.
-
animal blood once again helps but it doesnt cure it. there is something missing in it that doesnt quench the thirst
-
Haemophilia is genetic disorder that prevents blood clotting? Wouldn't call treating it with blood infusions as vamperism even though it's another situation where somebody's blood is the cure. Will have to read more about it, interesting that you brought it up in this topic.
-
it would be interesting to know how it was treated before transfusions were possible.
-
Eeeew... animal blood!!!! There's something about animal blood that's just too eeeew... like the fur for one... eeeew!!
Sucking on a cut on your hand sounds so nice compared to sucking on a dead (I hope) bird or rat!
-
Nobody said anything about sucking on a wound, eeeuw, another myth.
-
In a nice crystal wine glass maybe
-
Oh eeew, you just cut off the head and let it drip into that nice glass Satyr talked about... it's still animal.
-
Presentation is everything
-
erm, I always suck my wounds
-
Ja you know, not everyone knows blood drinking etiquette… we’ll end up embarrassing them! Drinking from the wound is probably the equivalent of eating with your hands from the serving bowl.
Jeesh, they'll probably think "you can't take them anywhere!"
-
Haemophilia is genetic disorder that prevents blood clotting.
Yes - it's caused by a mutant gene near the telomere of a piece of DNA. (A telomere is basically the end piece of the chain, which gets chopped off after DNA replication and it thus becomes shorter and shorter the whole time- the reason a cell undergoes Adoptosis, which is programmed cell death due to the release of caspases)
-
Nobody said anything about sucking on a wound, eeeuw, another myth.
That's actually very healthy to do anyways - your saliva contains many lizosomes that are natural disinfectants. It also stimulates the adaptive immune response system and helps your commensal flora (little beasties that live in your mouth)
Ok...enough of my babbling now....
-
Animal saliva can cause Rabies, can the saliva of a human being cause this as well?
Actually we're drifting a bit of topic here, donors who give blood for consumption draw it in exactly the same way a doctor would draw blood for tests, not through wounding themselves, they are civilized people people!
-

I think only if you have Rabies?
Glad to hear "they'll" choose civilized people who's blood "they'll" drink. Though, I would never be able to draw my own blood... I'm a big sissie.
-
Do you think the blood that they draw for consumption have got that preservatives in it, or how long do you think blood will stay blood once you've drawn it? ...
-
provided you keep it chilled and in an airless environment (will start clotting otherwise) it lasts quite long.
-
Do you think the blood that they draw for consumption have got that preservatives in it, or how long do you think blood will stay blood once you've drawn it? ...
Blood doesn't stay fresh very long. You can add some anti-coagulants to make it last longer or keep it at very low temperatures. But on the whole, if it is not treated right; I can't see blood lasting outside the body for more than a few hours.
-
I want to ask another silly question... does everyone's blood taste the same or different?
-
i wouldnt know as i pride myself in resisting needing anothers blood
-
I want to ask another silly question... does everyone's blood taste the same or different?
surely it must. if you can sweat alcohol or garlic i'm sure your blood will taste different depending on what it contains, whether theres a different flavour btwn A B and O types i doubt it.
-

In all you've said in this thread, it sure did sound that you "need" blood. So if you do not drink anothers blood, what do you drink?

Yeah, that was what I was thinking of, it makes sense ne?
-
that is getting a tad personal. i cannot answer that because i feel that is very personal. each one has his own way of coping if he doesnt give in but none will tell you what it is. its like asking them how many times a day they get off. i am sorry but that is one answer i cannot give

Diagnosis required:
Pre-pubescent child is alternately hyperactive and lethargic. Shows no sign of normal homeostatic mechanism - if temperature starts rising it doesn't stop until heart failure or placement in a sufficiently cold environment (and vice versa). Child has been clinically dead and revived three times. Brain scans show waking brain wave patterns while the child is asleep and sleeping patterns while the child is awake. Twelve lumber-punctures over six years show not a trace of meningitis (sp?). Child is asthmatic. Child allergic to milk but unwilling to eat meat that is "burnt" - no more than medium rare. Will eat vegetables reluctantly but only if they are green.
These symptoms disappear at puberty.
Child is adored by many (to the point of having nose wiped and shoelaces tied on demand until the age of 11 - when it stopped demanding this) and hated by many of its peers. Child shows abnormal ability to deal with cognitive abstractions at a very early age. Child taught self to read at the age of four. IQ testing at thirteen puts child very much in genius range.
People tend to give the child what it wants, even when it doesn't ask.
-

Well that counts me out
I only tested as above average
-
uh oh... alot of that fits me (except having died..) and i didnt know my IQ results till std7.
-
Sounds pretty much like a typical Indigo Child mentally and psychologically. The physical aspects/illnesses and vagaries, of course, are unique to the child. The brain wave patterns are intriguing though, but not unusual if this is a true Indigo, or could have become such a pattern after its first NDE. An indigo has an amazingly strong individuality, very Aquarian in that way... (and I have 3 Indigo's who ARE Aquarian so they are even worse when it comes to individuality). The Indigo having Aquarian traits is an obvious train as they are the Children of the age of Aquarius.
If anyone is interested I have studied the Indigo Phenomena extensively and can upload a lot of info in its own discussion...
-
I think I heard that there's a time frame for the appearance of Indigo children. What would that time frame be? What's the earliest possible date for an Indigo child?
-
There are several generations of Indigo Children. I will start a seperate board up on this :D
-
i find blood arousing..
-
If you find things like vampires and blood aluring I should introduce you to a friend of mine "Prion", very nice guy, a close relative the the very famous "bovine spongiform encephalopathy" and "Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease".
I once saw a cow with BSC on tv it was disturbing, the cow couldn't stand and keep slipping in its on waste.
Basically I think nature tries to protect itself by introducing diseases such as this, lets just say I dont think we are meant to eat our own kind, or consume there fluids.
-
I dont think we are meant to eat our own kind, or consume there fluids.
I agree on that.
Although, I’ve been told that, yes some people for some or other reason crave blood… however, after a lot of asking around and reading… I think it’s not as a result of a physical deficiency (like an iron deficiency for instance… although, it does happen too) but rather it’s a psychological thing.
I guess everyone has some or other “psychological thing” at some point in their lives. Some people starve themselves, get depressed, hurt themselves or whatever… and others crave blood.
-
i cant help it lol the smell, sight and taste of it arouse me
-
i cant help it lol the smell, sight and taste of it arouse me
Lol, at least you do not have a boring fetish like say... feet.
-
I'm really not into blood, but I find the fictional idea of vampires very cool. I like any stories or movies with vampires be they action, horror or even comedy. I'm looking forward to watching Blade Trinity again tonight.
-
I get aroused by the sight of coat-hangers, its not a pretty fetish and its something I keep to myself, but its one of those things I should shut up about but I just dont cause it makes me sound like an bit of a twit, but hey that’s just me
-
Coat hanger, huh? I can think of a lot of psychological implications with that... hooks anol :D
-
I’m watching a polar bear slaughter a bull walrus on NatGeo Wild… there’s blood everywhere… that’s not erotic!
-
i cant help it lol the smell, sight and taste of it arouse me

I'm thinking that only works with humans, in certain situations? Right???

lol ja i know its crazy but blood really does it for me

Call me a terribly pedantic Capricorn, but I do not think that humans that crave blood are technically Vampires.
Pretty much all the (pre-Christian) stories about vampires label them as walking dead things, more like Zombies, than anything else. Apart from which, the stories are unanimous in the fact that vampires require blood to sustain them, and will only drink blood.
I cannot see a living, breathing human surviving on nothing but blood...drinking more than a pint makes most people thoroughly sick. And the human body requires how much protein to survive?
Perhaps a new term should be created for those born and living with a blood-craving. But I cannot bring myself to call them vampires. just as a goat with interlocking horns is not a unicorn.
-
@ Fyrebyrde: You Terribly Pedantic Capricorn.... (there I called you one!!! teeheee) Im sorry but i am laughing as i write this... then again two drinks so forgive me.... how the hell do you know that drinking "more than a pint" makes people nauseous?????? like 100 ml at a go doesnt????? where does one learn this??? its great!! :jawdrop2: dont you sometimes think that stragners reading this must nbe completed confused at our matter of fact conversations... like.. when you drink blood...... hehehehe
@others:
I've been around blood a lot for the last 15 years... will clarify if you need but its true...
i dont like the smell of it at all, I'm usually the one who has to stick a finger in it, stop it or clean it or examine it.... however this is a big world and any number of things are attractive to people... smell, other sensory stimulation.... lots... its a scale after all, with no "norms" (who decides the norms anyway..??)
people are who they are.... i guess this is touchy cause you have to get your blood from somewhere or think about blood etc... and there are only living sources (i guess drinking blood replacement products, even the "active"ones that can transport oxygen might not be the same thing!!!!!)......
who cares if its psychological, emotional, physical or spiritual... isnt being gay talked about in the same way?? as if it is a) wrong and b) a choice or c) organic and therefore OK.... as if it needs judging or explaining by the "normal" people...
who cares what we think?
other than that we of all people should be accepting... we imagine dark answers as the christians do of wiccans/ pagans/ other... and some people get off on the thrill of talking about these .... oooh.. "dudeedodee" (twilight zone) ideas...
i say each to his/ her own....
and does everything have to have a name? some things just dont..... we get to make up categories if we like.. thats what being free is all about....
@Fyrebyrde: I agree, just pick a new name or whatever.. if the people concerned want to ... or Not.
love and light
or
diablos and dark
whatever turns you on!!!
sorry, man dont mean to be opinionated its just that the tone of this whole debate or talk is as if we are going to find The Answer between all these posts... and there are Lots Of Answers, as well as always more questions.....
which is great!!

Blood doesnt worry me one way or the other... and as a paramedic I see a lot. I DO like the taste of it though, to a certain extent. My meat must be extremely rare... my steak must say MOO when I stick my fork into it, (apologies to the holy cow :hehehe: ). I eat my liver basically raw, sizzle it on each side for 2 minutes and eat, but as I am extremely anaemic this is mainly for medical reasons. I also like to nibble on raw meat when I cook... just grab a snack while cooking, again, this only happens when my haemoglobin levels drop drastically.
I Cut myself on my hand/arm and I promptly move wound to mouth. Purely instinctive method to stop the bleeding though.
There is a medical condition that mimics vampirism and is, in some circles, believed to be the basis for the vampire legend, called Pyphoria... although there are a few schools of thinking there, as is usual in any scientific community.
-
@Cathwrynn: Fair enough...but I'm a pedantic Capricorn. I need to label things, everything must have a place in the natural order! :0: lol
As for the blood drinking thing (remember I said most people.) it's been proved that drinking lots of salty/metallic-flavoured liquid (whether for chemical reasons or simply flavour) makes people severly nauseous. No human body can survive on blood alone.
@Zephyr: understand about the rare meat thing, I also need lots of iron, thanks to my mother's line (*grr*).
What are the symptoms of Pyphoria.
-
@Fyrebyrde: I understand the feeling very well, im super analytic too...life has sheken me up abit though....... and now one of my favourite songs is "the beauty of grey" by Live (ie the inbetween black and white of life), plus a couple of times trying to categorise stuff about life i thought that my head might explode!!!! so now i try not to....
-
I know this sounds far out,but I've browsed a couple of vampire sites and came across a spell which is supposed to turn you into one.Something to do with graveyards and moonphases.

meh
if it was true a large amount of World of Darkness Role Players would not be looking for factor 1000 and the nearest blood bank :hehehe:

Possibly related?
Last July 20, Vince Weiguang Li delivered an Edmonton newspaper that carried a lengthy feature on the Windigo, "a terrifying creature in native mythology that has a ravenous appetite for human flesh. It could take possession of people and turn them into cannibalistic monsters."
Li abruptly quit his job and took a bus across the Canadian prairie, where he beheaded and cannibalized 20-year old Tim McLean. "I just don't know what to think of it, quite frankly," says the piece's author, and Windigo expert, Nathan Carlson. He'd documented numerous cases of people believing they were "turning Windigo" who would beg to be killed "before they started eating people." At Li's first courthouse appearance, the only words he spoke were a soft, "Please kill me."
On McLean's myspace http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=108390479 (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=108390479) page, under Who I'd like to meet, he posted "an alien, the wolfman, frankensteins monster, a vampire...."
Some history on the phenomenon:
One of the more famous cases of Wendigo psychosis involved a Plains Cree trapper from Alberta, named Swift Runner.During the winter of 1878, Swift Runner and his family were starving, and his eldest son died.
Within just 25 miles of emergency food supplies at a Hudson's Bay Company post, Swift Runner butchered and ate his wife and five remaining children. Given that he resorted to cannibalism so near to food supplies, and that he killed and consumed the remains of all those present, it was revealed that Swift Runner's was not a case of pure cannibalism as a last resort to avoid starvation, but rather of a man suffering from Wendigo psychosis.
He eventually confessed and was executed by authorities at Fort Saskatchewan. Another well-known case involving Wendigo psychosis was that of Jack Fiddler, an Oji-Cree chief and shaman known for his powers at defeating Wendigos. In some cases this entailed euthanizing people suffering from Wendigo psychosis; as a result, in 1907, Fiddler and his brother Joseph were arrested by the Canadian authorities for murder. Jack committed suicide, but Joseph was tried and put to death.
-
Wow!
-
Now there's something to think about...I thought Wendigo were legend, that the stories were accepted as stories...hmmm.
-
Pedantic Capricorn no 2, I'm with the FyreByrde..
I do not really care what people call or label things though. Each to his or her own.
What my concern is is that sometimes people are in dire need of psychological and psychiatric help. The Windigo guy on the bus is one of those people. If someone wants to label themselves as a vampire and go around drinking blood or whatever, that is fine, they are not hurting anyone and I respect their life choices to live their lives in a certain way.
But..if people go around hurting others one needs to look at the phenomenon very closely because if one merely classify their actions as the actions of creatures which may or may not exist we may be doing those people a disservice especially if they are suffering from a mental illness. This may well cause them not to seek the necessary medical help.
(And noooo...I am not saying everyone is crazy who call themselves a vampire for example. I am merely saying one should be circumspect and careful before classifying certain phenomena.)
-
anyone who hunts people with no remorse, whether its for their blood, body parts, or just to feel the life force flowing out, is psychotic
anyone who feels compelled (by voices, by a driving passion) and after the act feel guilty, chances are have schizophrenia or one of the other rare presenting forms of bipolar disorder
as social being we are wired to feel empathy and violence in ourselves, to others, or as witness to others is a traumatically scarring event
whilst I respect anyone who wants to wear long coats, live in the night, and fantasize about being a vampire or shapechanger; if you are taking life and its not creating great torment in you; you are most probably mentally ill and should seek help
it is always the problem with fringe web communities that they can harbour and provide sustenance for individuals who are a risk to themselves and others
So I very much agree with Tatise and taking into account some of what has been posted on the shape changing thread I hope no one on this site condones or supports individuals that intentionally harm others
In my time working in prisons I met many who hands were stained by violence and the most scary of all were those who felt nothing at all. Be careful about calling evil, sometimes it calls back
mmm don't know why I feel compelled to pen this; maybe its needed maybe its not

Pedantic though I may be, I do still give the benefit of the doubt. In small doses, though.

All I will say is Bram stoker like any author has some truth but some is fabricated. I have always had blood issues I will leave that at that.
-
Saw an article in the Cape Times or Argus the other day (never remember which), which had been drawn from some American publication, where they talk about Vampires and the Vampire community in USA. A survey done by their own research centres showed that the vast majority of self-proclaimed vampires - both psychic and sanguinarian - had an average age of 28....which would make them all teenagers when the Anne Rice novels were starting to become popular.
How many of these kiddies think they're Lestat or Marius or....whoever? :|
-
It was always believed that Bram Stoker used the horrific killing sprees of Vlad the Impaler as inspiration for the Dracula story. But has anyone seen the documentary "Dracula was a woman"? Was fascinating. The historians argued that Stoker used the reign of terror of Elizabeth Bathory as inspiration.
Bathory was well known for luring women to come and work at her castle, then torturing and killing them. According to legend she also used to bathe in the blood of virgins.

sigh; the sad belief in the power of virgin blood. Did you know that Victorians believed virgin blood could rid one of STD's. They would come out to the colonies and procure black children to have sex with. This tradition has been pasted down into the modern get rid of AIDS through rape of a young child
-
@Naum: Just like the rumour that sex with a white woman will cure AIDS? This sort of thing makes me angry. :|
@Tatise: An interesting theory, but as far as I can tell, Vlad Dracula and the Blood Countess are not interchangeable. Each was cruel and bloodthirtsy in their own way, but while Dracula was reputed to have 'died' and 'risen' again several times, once the Blood Countess died that was that. Also, according to some historians, Dracula was actually referred to as 'vampire' (which of course was an entirely different creature from the Romantic Vampire of today.) by the frightened commoners. Probably just a result of rumours that he drank the blood of his enemies, but the Countess was only rumoured to have bathed in the blood, not drink it.
But who knows, huh?
-
I had to post here given the facts that my Ancestory ties me to Vlad on my fathers side. I am not boosting this fact but one has to know he was a man like any other a little coo coo but hey thats alright. Vampyre I think is a very interesting term for a person. Considering if one is to claim they are being Sang or Psi there is negative usually tied in I am for one a Sang. A traditional and yes I am a Indigo as well and many characteristics overlap. But those who know me well and I mean very very well see this I am not a over the wall fake fangs bite your neck type of chick I have my own methods considering safety first and foremost.
Being a Vampyre doesnt in anyway make me or anyone else who truely is and not one of those goth kids who put on the show A negative. Think like this had I said nothing then you would therefore be unaware.
:robin: :Thor:
-
Fair nuff. You'll understand my scepticism, though, considering the number of fakers one finds? Not saying you're lying.
-
Nah I understand that I didnt believe it either till I takes to my fathers biological mother and she clarified it also with the family tree
-
Seems like a lot of people walk around with Hungarian blood in them
-
lol More then is known I found out do to a document my father had about the battle our family was in with Vlad
-
Amazing
-
Why don’t vampires reach out for help then? It really does sound like a small hell vampires live?
I mean if there’s medication to drown out “voices” (of spirits,) and severe clinical depression there must be something that can help with blood cravings? Or at least most of the worst side effects if it?
LOL as others here have stated one we are always around and two lets use some common sense to satisfy blood lust guess what you need Blood. What a concept huh.
-
Maybe someone asked this before...but does it have to be human blood? and I don't mean to be offensive in any way..
I mean one could for example go the a deli or specialist butcher and buy Blood Sausage...??? would that not be an option, as this is rich in iron as well, and is actually made from pigs blood??
As a child and even when my mother was pregnant with me she was told and ate Blood Sausage at least once weekly and as a child I ate this often. It helps ease the cravings but isnt like human blood. How was it Edward in twilight said Blood was like his new Heroin his rack of lamb.
-
Nobody said anything about sucking on a wound, eeeuw, another myth.

Gotta love stereotypes
-
LOL as others here have stated one we are always around and two lets use some common sense to satisfy blood lust guess what you need Blood. What a concept huh.
You took the whole discussion out of context. Did you actually read everything? If you put what I said back into the context that I said it... you'd understand it.
-
Agree with Bee: I'm iron deficient, which means that I tend to eat my meat raw with either side cooked to 1mm, to keep the juices in. I can use iron tablets, though, if I really needed it.
So: what exactly is it, in blood, that sanguine vampires crave?
-
I believe it is the life force blood is but Honestly I can't tell you myself what makes me crave blood. That being said as has been mentioned safety is always a big key and knowing the donor is key. The same can be asked of Psi Vamps why is it they crave the energy prehaps it is something that we feel we are lacking prehaps like a plant needing water it is just necessary I can't really say just that it is what it is.
-
Psi Vampires, I think most do it without knowing about it. I think it also has to do with the emotional state of a person, anyone can be a psy vampire really - drain people if they are low or depressed. People's emotions are infectious.
-
Psi Vampirism is usually caused by a damaged chakra which is so out of balance that it requires constant energy from outside to balance it. That's the case in most of the cases - reading a book at the moment called Psychic Vampires - Protection From Energy Predators and Energy Parasites (which in my opinion is used incorrectly as it implies vampires, both psi and sanguine with psychic powers) in which they show kirlian photographs of such people's auras.
The auras chunky and very uneven, some places almost non-existent.
-
Luckily I've never came across Psi Vampires that's THAT bad, or I think I haven't?
Just a few insecure and super needy people that constantly need affirmative attention to the point where it gets so physically and emotionally draining in their presence you feel like chewing off your own wrists.
I actually find Psi Vampires pathetic in a way.
-
I actually find Psi Vampires pathetic in a way.
I think so too, at least those that do it unintentionally.... Those who do it intentionally are a whole other ballgame
-
I agree too... they are pathetic..
And I am sorry, but I am still really skeptical about all this vampire stuff.. :| Vampires are people who either lack the ability to produce or maintain chi or what we call life energy and blood is the ultimate source of chi as it powers life. Thats as far as it goes for me...
-
Quite by accident yesterday, I watched the Tyra Banks show (*SIGH*) and it was about (real) vampires and it was actually quite interesting.
-
So what did they talk about?
-
So what did they talk about?
Well, they started off with a guy who was a 'vampire' (obviously had his teeth done and all ) and he explained kinda what his life was like, that even at an early age he felt that he wanted/needed blood. How he drank about a vial once a week or month, that type of thing. He also said he was celibate cause he was more 'enlightened' and felt that sex wasn't necessary (but that not all 'vampires' felt that way). How the nowdays vampires aren't like the hollywood vampires. He seemed like a sensible guy and very down to earth considering.
They also interviewed a couple of lady vampires who said more or less similar stuff.

Next it'll be Otherkin. *sigh*

Insight to the lines that exist
-
Vampires. Blood sucking beast shrieking through the night, or are they more. Vampires are said to be supernatural creatures roaming the night, but they can be much more as you shall see.
This brings me to the reason and definition of a "Psychic Vampire". This actually has a double meaning. Satanically speaking, a Psychic Vampire is one who purposely will draw your emotions to them just to make themselves feel good. They will feel sorrow so that you will comfort them or they will show you love just for the purpose of receiving it in return. The second type of Psychic Vampire would be more directed along the line of mysticism and magick. A Psychic Vampire is not one who feeds on blood, but rather one who draws the energy force from their victims body. This can be voluntarily or without knowing it. A person who just seems to wear you out when you are around them would fall into this category. Psychic Vampire can also have malicious intent, but generally there's not much to fear as most are not very proficient and a "psychic draining" is not fatal. These two meaning indeed differ greatly. The first is a more obnoxious, annoying person who deserves a heart of stone to block their worthless attempts. The second, however, is open to the mind of the individual. It's hard to say if this even exists, but many would say it does. If it is a true form of magick then there are ways to protect yourself. Either case, Psychic Vampires exist, so take caution.
Actual Vampirism including drinking of blood is a much more different story. I have received various e-mails about people asking me what it is to be a vampire, how blood affects you, and if I personally believe in the many myths and legends. Well, I'll start off with a very simple fact. It is most dangerous to go around pretending to be a story-book vampire when you indeed are not one. As soon as you end up breaking your legs jumping off of a building, or being jailed for attempting to bite someone, you will find this out. Being slightly vampiric or perhaps somewhat gothic is one thing, but let fantasy be where it belongs. If, however, you truly are a vampire- then go ahead and do what you want. As far as drinking blood goes, here are some general rules which you should take into consideration:
The first is that People Need Blood to Survive. They need their own blood. If you and someone decide to engage in vampiric activity, please remember that a deep cut can be extremely damaging, and drinking blood after you have lost a lot will not do anything except make you sick to your stomach and maybe make you pass out from blood loss. People can not regain blood through ingestion. This brings me to my next point.
As far as Consuming Blood is concerned, the medical breakdown can be summed up very briefly like this. The consumption of blood frequently and/or large amounts can result in serious health risks. Many throat and other infections can be the result of drinking blood. If you enjoy it, please remember that moderation truly should be in effect here. I would not recommend some regular blood drinking time, but I would suggest not more than every two weeks, and even then do not drink in excessive amounts. If you merely lick a scratch, then I think you will be ok. I refer in this section more to the people who drink a glass of blood (believe me, there are some) every so often.
Myths and Legends are also very interesting. Indeed there are many good vampire book and stories out there. As far as if they are true, I say this: to a real vampire, perhaps all of these are true. Perhaps some. Clearly you can be in the sun, clearly you can take being on holy ground and the sight of crucifixes does not repel you.(as far as the stake through the heart goes, well...just take my word that this is a normal thing) However no one is stopping you from being a vampire. There are many types, as you have seen. Mythical vampires, which providing interesting reading, do not parallel the "mortal" vampire. So it's okay to go out in the sun. In fact, the sun provides vitamins to you which help you, sun deficiency is not a nice thing to happen. It can bring depression, and mood swings. Keep the vampire books on shelf, and your mind in the right place, and you'll be fine.
