Allow me to play Devil's Advocate here (if you'll pardon the expression).
These cultural clashes have been going on long before the introduction of Christianity or Islam. Most slaves sold to America were `prisoners of war' taken by victorious groups. The very psychological attitude of these groups is that, if one worships the Sun, the opponent will deliberately worship the Moon.
I maintain that these clashes have absolutely nothing to do with religion. Religion might now be used as an excuse but, if religion could not be used, they will find some other excuse to continue their barbaric way of life.
